At CYOC, our focus is very simple: to place attorneys of color in the path of practical career strategies, delivered on a straight talk platform by senior attorneys who are personally invested in our attendees. In short, we deliver a rigorous set of professional development programing.
Faculty
Our faculty consists of senior attorneys who “walk the talk” with respect to investing in attorneys of color. Their voice is one of straight talk, not safe talk.
Career Strategies
We challenge our faculty to communicate the 1) ways of working, 2) ways of relationship building, and 3) ways of self-investment that have enabled their success in the law firm and law department settings.
Personal
This conference is personal. We deeply believe in the brilliance of attorneys of color and pour into them with the conviction and personal accountability of family members.
We are working with our planning committee to finalize our agenda for this year.
Our conference is structured around four (4) programing tracks with the following focus:
Junior Associate Track – We focus on what junior associates must do to (1) understand the dynamics of law firm success, (2) establish and cultivate organic relationships and (3) become the 1st choice of assigning senior associates and partners.
Mid/Senior Associate Track – We focus on what top performing associates do to (1) become indispensable members of key client teams, and (2) build commercially relevant relationships external to the firm.
Leadership Track (In-house Counsel) – We are focused on increasing the number of in-house attorneys on a senior management/general counsel trajectory. This track is directed to the needs of mid and senior level in-house attorneys.

Pre-Conference Programming – At CYOC, we believe that professional success and personal wellness are seldom divisible. Last year we hosted a very successful Men’s Pre-conference and Women’s Pre-conference sessions. In both pre-conferences, we examine the factors that impact our wellness and ultimately our careers.
